CanadaSDS was founded by Gary Toste with a team bringing over 30 years of combined experience in health and safety, and enterprise software development. The founding insight was straightforward: Canadian organizations were being poorly served by generic, US-centric SDS tools that had no understanding of Canada's unique provincial regulatory patchwork. CanadaSDS was built from the ground up, as a platform conceived for Canadian compliance from day one.
Today, CanadaSDS serves hundreds of Canadian organizations, including the Toronto District School Board, the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the City of Brampton, Conestoga College, and the City of Winnipeg. Our SDS management platform is built for WHMIS and every provincial OHS jurisdiction, from WorkSafeBC in British Columbia to the Occupational Health and Safety Act in Ontario and beyond to Newfoundland and Labrador.
Each province maintains its own OHS legislation, WHMIS regulations, and enforcement framework. CanadaSDS actively tracks regulatory updates across all 13 provinces and territories, including Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), BC's WorkSafeBC regulations, Alberta's OHS Code, Quebec's LSST, and Saskatchewan's OHS Regulations, 1996.
Federal law and Quebec's language requirements mandate that Safety Data Sheets be available in both English and French.
